An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 13th minute of play forced Clube Audax Metropolitano's goalkeeper Santo Lano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Alonso Berganza threw the ball into play from the sideline. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Sergio Chus quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haisenberg Dolar, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Clube Audax Metropolitano's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 45th minute of the game, when Claudinho Quadros after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Peru's goal. Claudinho Quadros was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Santo Lano made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Haisenberg Dolar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clube Audax Metropolitano made a substitution. Eriberto Netto replaced Haisenberg Dolar. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Julian Murillo took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Santo Lano to make any attempt to save it. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eriberto Netto in the 87th minute of play. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Eriberto Netto got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Clube Audax Metropolitano throughout the match.
