Jean-Marie Sanquer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 2nd minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Hercule Basque sent off a good shot on target. Perthes United's Jean-Marie Sanquer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play. After some careless play in the Perthes United defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean-Marie Sanquer. The Perthes United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean-Marie Sanquer should have stopped the shot. Jean-Marie Sanquer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 16th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Armand Mondon's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Hercule Basque could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. 27 minutes in the game Florian Boitel did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Patrice Lambolez. In the 31st minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Bart De Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perthes United's supporters rose to their feet, but Bart De Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Marie Sanquer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 34th minute of play forced Perthes United's goalkeeper Jean-Marie Sanquer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hercule Basque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jean-Marie Sanquer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th minute Loïc Curt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Marie Sanquer having to interfere. When Alex Chicote fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Alex Chicote a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. Jonathan Ferrant went to the wrong direction when Armand Mondon was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armand Mondon in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 71st minute, Perthes United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tomas Illescas fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Armand Mondon might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armand Mondon ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 84th minute of play forced Perthes United's goalkeeper Jean-Marie Sanquer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jean-Marie Sanquer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Jean-Marie Sanquer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hercule Basque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florian Boitel kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. Venezuela were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Perthes United's much stronger midfield.
