After having played for 15 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Suárez Yasin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Placido Patxi's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. After a rather tough play, Espinillo's Amado Savier got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Arnulfo Sotil took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
