A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. If Rodolfo Montay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Vedat Burçhan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodolfo Montay in the 25th minute of the match. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vedat Burçhan to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Vedat Burçhan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vedat Burçhan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Vedat Burçhan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Campus Douro Academy's supporters rose to their feet, but Vedat Burçhan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 65th match minute, Campus Douro Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Godofredo Pepillo to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 70 minutes, Álvaro Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Campus Douro Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Álvaro Machado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
