Thanks to some nice moves Peter Blomkvist could shoot a difficult shot in the 5th minute, which Marco Day however easily saved by the left post. Marco Day stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elvio Frances's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Peter Blomkvist blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marco Day having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Cassius Byrne's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicasio Abad was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. In the 25th minute, Monty Rogers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 43rd minute, Elvio Frances hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicasio Abad took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elvio Frances was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elvio Frances in the 51st minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Day was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Saturno in the 94th minute of the match. Nicasio Abad made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Sam Campbell sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew the final whistle, Monterrey ante el Mundo⛥ could leave the field as winners, despite USA having more of the ball for most of the match.
