The Blau Weiß Sauerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uwe Kuhni should have stopped the shot. Willi Reutter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Willi Reutter hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute, Willi Reutter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willi Reutter let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 23rd minute shot 1-1 at rihgt post. Willi Reutter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Blau Weiß Sauerland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Willi Reutter made the kick off in the second half. Alessio Bongartz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Blau Weiß Sauerland getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Tristan Uschok hit a great ball. In the 60th minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64 played minutes Blau Weiß Sauerland got a freekick which was hit by Alessio Bongartz. Uwe Kuhni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 66th minute of the match. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 92nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Pingel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
