A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Luca Zorita hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Nerio Etxeberria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Nerio Etxeberria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 24 minutes, Dante Lacasa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Macabeo Sampil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Julen Castellano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Policarpio Lama got free with Dante Lacasa in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Artur Boruc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After some careless play in the Rayo Bengala defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artur Boruc. The Rayo Bengala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artur Boruc should have stopped the shot.

With a little luck, Rayo Bengala's Artur Boruc got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 55th minute. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Artur Boruc made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Rayo Bengala's Nerio Etxeberria got a free kick in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the game, Nerio Etxeberria cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Dante Lacasa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Artur Boruc made a huge save. A collision led to Rayo Bengala getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Çağan Ros hit a great ball. A hard shot by Joel Gaona from long distance, 75 minutes into the match, got Artur Boruc's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The supporters of Mexico booed when Rayo Bengala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Policarpio Lama didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rayo Bengala made a substitution. Palacios Bobes replaced Policarpio Lama. Rayo Bengala's Muntis Stiebriņsons was substituted for Macabeo Sampil. Artur Boruc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 88th minute of play. In the 89th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Rayo Bengala's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Julen Castellano might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julen Castellano ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet as Lautaro Mancebo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Artur Boruc. That made the score 1-3 in the 96 minute of play. The Rayo Bengala supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mexico's performance. The match ended with a win for Mexico.
