In the 12th minute, Eliseo Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Santo Lano quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alonso Berganza, made in the 17th minute of the game. Santo Lano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santo Lano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 20th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Milagros Fraga got free with Santo Lano in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Clube Audax Metropolitano's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Peru's Moises Gayoso getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 29 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Haisenberg Dolar came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santo Lano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Murillo's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Santo Lano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 38th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santo Lano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Chus kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Clube Audax Metropolitano made a substitution. Eriberto Netto replaced Haisenberg Dolar. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Maicon Mattos was substituted for Osvaldinho de Queiroz. After 68 played minutes Clube Audax Metropolitano got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Aleixo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eriberto Netto in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Clube Audax Metropolitano's goalkeeper Santo Lano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 79th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Clube Audax Metropolitano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Peru's Luz Tejedor to fire away a dangerous shot which Santo Lano despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 81st minute Milagros Fraga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santo Lano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Julian Murillo made a precise shot to the right of Santo Lano. Clube Audax Metropolitano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. 88 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Eriberto Netto came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santo Lano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 91st minute of play. Betinho Tróia kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match.
