Rosario Martel might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dida Taffarel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rosario Martel ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 27th minute Conrado Guter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rosario Martel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Programayin's Hans-Jürgen Pötscher got control of the ball when German Cano tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Programayin's goalkeeper Hans-Jürgen Pötscher had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Paraibano. Dida Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfredo Martins was the one to do the kick off. In the 79th minute, Alfredo Martins made a precise shot to the right of Hans-Jürgen Pötscher. Programayin's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Sergio Agüero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by German Cano in the 86th minute of play forced Programayin's goalkeeper Hans-Jürgen Pötscher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hans-Jürgen Pötscher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 88th minute of play. The corner led Programayin's 盛世 Kiær to fire away a dangerous shot which Dida Taffarel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
