In the 2nd minute, Robt Paulet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alberto Tafalla might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Orlando Gatti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alberto Tafalla ran back to his position shaking his head. Vânderson Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by Abuba Akotonon FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Cecilio Tristan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Abuba Akotonon FC's Hugo Orlando Gatti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 14th minute of play. In the 20th match minute, Abuba Akotonon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Veloz to maneuver through the defense. Emiliano Enol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emanuel Aurre hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 31st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luca Zorita to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Cecilio Tristan came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th match minute, Abuba Akotonon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Veloz to maneuver through the defense. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Hugo Orlando Gatti was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cecilio Tristan made a kick off. Hugo Orlando Gatti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. J.J Okocha kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Hugo Orlando Gatti quite easily take care of the ball. In the 64th match minute, Abuba Akotonon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genaro Elivareo to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Orlando Gatti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Orlando Gatti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Orlando Gatti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Mexico's Luca Rouco to a score. 0-2 in the 83rd minute. After 92 minutes Abuba Akotonon FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. J.J Okocha tried in the 92nd minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Hugo Orlando Gatti a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 0-3. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
