With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jardel Falcão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Magno Dante hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Maraponga FAC's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jardel Falcão came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute, Luiz Fernando Tróia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jardel Falcão was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Illescas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. In the 28th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Maraponga FAC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Magno Dante hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Jardel Falcão in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patricio Costa might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jardel Falcão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Patricio Costa ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Maraponga FAC defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jardel Falcão. The Maraponga FAC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jardel Falcão should have stopped the shot. 40 minutes into the match, Maraponga FAC's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Jardel Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcinho Simões to strike the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Joshua Secada got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Maraponga FAC's Jardel Falcão. Jardel Falcão was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 67 minutes into the match, Maraponga FAC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Jardel Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Maraponga FAC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Magno Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jardel Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79th minute, one of Maraponga FAC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Maraponga FAC. In the 80th minute there was a penalty for Venezuela. Tomas Illescas stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jardel Falcão. 5-0. In the 83rd minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Jardel Falcão. Maraponga FAC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. After having played for 86 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 89 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jardel Falcão. Maraponga FAC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. In the 92nd match minute, Maraponga FAC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Magno Dante to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Venezuela fans cheered their team off the field, for while Maraponga FAC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
