Julio Vera had great luck who in the 35thth minute grab hold of the ball when Bubu Denat from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After 37 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gonzalo Boye who took care of the corner kick. Gonzalo Boye made a great header on F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Felix Montenegro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alejandro Verdu having to make a save. Alejandro Verdu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bubu Denat's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. After 82 minutes, Camilo Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA players grew even worse after the yellow card.
