Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Enoch. Enrique Enoch dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 19th minute of the match, Stig Malmgren got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Quintán Asendegui fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored union española s.a.'s protests and gave Quintán Asendegui a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st match minute, union española s.a. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quintán Asendegui to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 26 in the game by Stig Malmgren from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. Enrique Enoch guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced union española s.a.'s goalkeeper Enrique Enoch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stig Malmgren in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cecilio Magalhaes charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cecilio Magalhaes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 44th minute, Cecilio Magalhaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Enrique Enoch narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stig Malmgren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Stig Malmgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stig Malmgren blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. 59 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Enrique Enoch. union española s.a.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a rather tough play, union española s.a.'s Stig Malmgren got a free kick in the 61st minute. Stig Malmgren blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Enrique Enoch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 65th minute of play. Stig Malmgren might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stig Malmgren ran back to his position shaking his head. Stig Malmgren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Enrique Enoch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play. Stig Malmgren kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th minute, Cristian Sancho fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Enrique Enoch, passed just outside the right post. 92 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Stig Malmgren came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig Malmgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than union española s.a. throughout the match.
