An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Mastache in the 15th minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 23rd minute of the match. Santino Seco hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. GuateFortín made a substitution. Severo Rameriz replaced Stanyo Búnkov. The supporters of GuateFortín booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santino Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sven-Edvin Jansson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Manzanares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colombia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Angel Alvarenga was slow to take the kick. During this time GuateFortín's players had a chance to rest. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Nery Pumpido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santino Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sven-Edvin Jansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Manzanares having to make a save. 34 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Edvin Jansson came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nery Pumpido came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Colombia's Santino Seco. But to his dismay, Santino Seco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Nery Pumpido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santino Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute Axel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sven-Edvin Jansson was the one to do the kick off. Pedro Manzanares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zico Zellier's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 53rd minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Sven-Edvin Jansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. Pablo Mora didn't get a good kick on the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Sven-Edvin Jansson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sven-Edvin Jansson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After having played for 82 minutes, Sven-Edvin Jansson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GuateFortín's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Edvin Jansson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Luis Cazalla got a free kick in the 85th minute. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Mario Gomez got a free kick in the 86th minute. Heriberto Correa hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Pascual Carballar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Nery Pumpido made a huge save. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Mario Gomez hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the game, Colombia's Abram Secada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nery Pumpido made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Colombia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
