The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of AFK Petržalka booed when FC KALELİ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şahin Sarduç didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nazil Sağlamtürk fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after FC KALELİ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Roman Fujarczuk took the corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Servet Okaner got free with Tim Hebel in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guaberto Ihintza during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patric Bierhoff made a kick off. Patric Bierhoff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to FC KALELİ getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Guaberto Ihintza hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, AFK Petržalka's Nikola Krstović dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. 77 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Nazil Sağlamtürk came free, but Tim Hebel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Nazil Sağlamtürk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tim Hebel. FC KALELİ's Antoni Camarasa got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The AFK Petržalka supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AFK Petržalka would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
