B-S-L's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when B-S-L was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul Şerbănoiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peter Lundgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guga Bezerra helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, B-S-L's Guga Bezerra got a free kick in the 55th minute. Júnior de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 65th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 67 minutes into the game, Flávio Rosado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. B-S-L's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 67 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Rosado. In the 70th minute, Nildo Seco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 77 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. B-S-L's Peter Lundgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 84th minute of play. If Júnior de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Júnior de Moraes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
