After 15 played minutes Atletico Van Goof got a freekick which was hit by Felice Piano. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ercole Marcon in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Safy Belfaa in the 21st minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Safy Belfaa, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. When Axel Tasis fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Axel Tasis a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Atletico Van Goof booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Axel Tasis hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Safy Belfaa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atletico Van Goof fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 46th match minute, Atletico Van Goof was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ercole Marcon to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. With 52 minutes on the clock, Juan Rubio commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Safy Belfaa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico Van Goof's supporters rose to their feet, but Safy Belfaa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ercole Marcon in the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Atletico Van Goof's Ercole Marcon ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. If Safy Belfaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Di Placido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 82nd minute of play forced Atletico Van Goof's goalkeeper Alberto Di Placido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes had been played when some careless play by Atletico Van Goof's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner.
