Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 22nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. Fernando Ruisko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fernando Ruisko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute, Jorge Olguín left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The El Millo de Haedo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 37 minutes into the match, El Millo de Haedo's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Fernando Ruisko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Remigio Uhin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hernán Crespo in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernán Crespo, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jose Correa in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fernando Ruisko saved El Millo de Haedo from getting behind. Feliciano Gilabert made in the 64th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Hernán Crespo. But to his dismay, Hernán Crespo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The supporters of El Millo de Haedo booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Secada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernán Crespo in the 76th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Fernando Ruisko in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aurelio Aureo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. 80 minutes into the game, Hernán Crespo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 88 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelio Aureo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. When the referee ended the match the El Millo de Haedo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
