Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. When Iztal Marisancena came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the 20 DE SETEMBRO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iztal Marisancena couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 20 DE SETEMBRO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurinho Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Erling Franks managed to get in a good position for a shot. 20 DE SETEMBRO's supporters rose to their feet, but Erling Franks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute, Cristian Sancho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benê Goiano. The goal made the score 2-3. The 20 DE SETEMBRO fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
