A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Milagros Cabal hit a great ball. In the 7th match minute, Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmundo Espiga to maneuver through the defense. 9 minutes into the game, Rodolfo Hanot was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing Comunicaciones's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Honduras the free kick. Laureano Belasko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Villa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Racing Comunicaciones's Saturnino Roldan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lautaro Navarro. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. In the 27th minute of the match, Maximiliano Celio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Lautaro Navarro was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Edmundo Espiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laureano Belasko having to interfere. Racing Comunicaciones's Laureano Belasko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Villa in the 38th minute of play. Faustino Egoitz's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Rodolfo Hanot made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laureano Belasko saved Racing Comunicaciones from getting behind. If Saturnino Roldan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. Edmundo Espigas short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Laureano Belasko to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 67th minute of play forced Racing Comunicaciones's goalkeeper Laureano Belasko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute, Franco Di Santo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 played minutes Racing Comunicaciones got a freekick which was hit by Apolo Txindoki. A nice corner shot did that Edmundo Espiga got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Laureano Belasko quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Honduras booed when Racing Comunicaciones was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustino Egoitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Racing Comunicaciones's Franco Di Santo got a free kick in the 88th minute. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Edmundo Espiga sped through Racing Comunicaciones's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Laureano Belasko. In the 95th minute Rodolfo Hanot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Honduras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Honduras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
