Match Report

Santiago J Parodi
Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0)
The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Severino Furman took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Marcos Ekhi came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the 1989 Blxsk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcos Ekhi couldn't finish the play. 1989 Blxsk's Enrique Sedeni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 7th minute of play forced 1989 Blxsk's goalkeeper Enrique Sedeni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Severino Furman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 15th minute, Melchor Dorio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enrique Sedeni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 18th minute of the match. After some careless play in the 1989 Blxsk defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enrique Sedeni. The 1989 Blxsk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enrique Sedeni should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 37th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Sedeni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Enrique Sedeni despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Enrique Sedeni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luis Andino's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvaro Tiniebra in the 52nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Godoy in the 54th minute of play. After 58 minutes of play, 1989 Blxsk's Miguel Godoy made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that 1989 Blxsk's Enrique Sedeni managed to reach the ball for a save. 1989 Blxsk's Sokol Mudrov was substituted for Melchor Dorio. After 68 minutes 1989 Blxsk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Antonio Arias was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Urti in the 73rd minute of play. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. 1989 Blxsk made a substitution. Luke De Kelper replaced Marcos Ekhi. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. 1989 Blxsk's Enrique Sedeni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save 1989 Blxsk from getting a goal against them. 1989 Blxsk were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Juan Urti took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Juan Urti got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The 1989 Blxsk players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
