With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robustiano Olate in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radomir Mleczewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. A collision led to C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Felipo Knauer hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Radomir Mleczewski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Hermelando Peebles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leonel Swinburn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Marian Topolski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute Radomir Mleczewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. Radomir Mleczewski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Robustiano Olate could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. In the 69th minute of the match Juan Rubio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marian Topolski showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Radomir Mleczewski succeeded in the game's 70th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol's Chronis Bekyros was substituted for Andrés Iturriaga. Marian Topolski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Puig in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Radomir Mleczewski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Radomir Mleczewski hit a great ball. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the game, Hermelando Peebles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. In the 86th match minute, C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermelando Peebles to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes into the match, Mark Paez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mark Paez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Radomir Mleczewski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 0-4 in the 94 minute of play. C.D. y S. Hijos del Sol's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
