Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, C. A. RIVER PLATE's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Santiago Rodas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 4thth minute of the game Arnoldo Iratxo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 5 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Arnoldo Iratxo who took care of the corner kick. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santiago Rodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 24th minute. Santiago Rodas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 31st minute C. A. RIVER PLATE were awarded a corner. Arnoldo Iratxo went to the cornerflag to take it. Iker Ostots was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Santiago Rodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Iratxo, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arnoldo Iratxo to strike the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Rodas having to interfere. After some careless play in the C. A. RIVER PLATE defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santiago Rodas. The C. A. RIVER PLATE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santiago Rodas should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Rodas having to interfere. Santiago Rodas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 72 minute of play. Iker Ostots kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Santiago Rodas in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 93rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Santiago Rodas could save by the left post. Santiago Rodas came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Ecuador played a much better game than C. A. RIVER PLATE and deserved their victory. The C. A. RIVER PLATE players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
