Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Skog read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viktor Albäck, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Garphyttan's Erik Skog played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 12th minute of play. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. 15 minutes into the match, Garphyttan's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Erik Skog reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Garphyttan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The Garphyttan players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
