In the 14th minute, Moises Fernandino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dionisio Figueres was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. If Máximo Maestro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raúl Gasso in the 20th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Moises Fernandino notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Real Armal F.C.'s Dionisio Figueres. Dionisio Figueres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Real Armal F.C. booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 41st minute Raúl Gasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Moises Fernandino who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Dionisio Figueres when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 78th minute Raúl Gasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eder Mangas in the 79th minute of the match. El Salvador's Mateo Leguizamo shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 81st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dionisio Figueres but with some difficulty. Raúl Gasso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. Marco Tamayo kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
