Clemente Ricart made in the 14th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by El Salvador's Marco Tamayo. The audience was convinced that Benedicto Garci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Zorita was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerardo Galo having to interfere. Desiderio Mede blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. When Telmo Granja came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Quirós fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Telmo Granja couldn't finish the play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Telmo Granja came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Telmo Granja had several of the El Salvador's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 59 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Jesus Carvallo hit a great ball. Quirós's Chaba Brahimi shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 88th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ricardo Zorita but with some difficulty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valter Pinhal got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benedicto Garci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
