Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Marcial Bakar made a huge save. Guter Tobia might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Day. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Guter Tobia ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th minute Guter Tobia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guter Tobia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Day read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tamer Yalçıner, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 36th minute of play forced Aves Negras's goalkeeper Marcial Bakar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 played minutes Aves Negras got a freekick which was hit by Alejo Goyo. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Aves Negras's Cezar Ciorogaru got a free kick in the 91st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Aves Negras's zone, Sam Campbell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcial Bakar came out of the goal and Sam Campbell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chants of Aves Negras echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as USA had held the ball for most of the match.
