After a defensive mix-up in Great Bulgaria's zone, Moises Fernandino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trendafil Margin came out of the goal and Moises Fernandino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Deyan Makazchiev fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Great Bulgaria's protests and gave Deyan Makazchiev a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th minute, Deyan Makazchiev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marco Tamayo missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 15 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Trendafil Margin right hand side. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trendafil Margin having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Evtim Kalúpchiev reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ricardo Zorita. The goal made the score 1-0. A collision led to Great Bulgaria getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Dilyan Radomirski hit a great ball. Marko Dzhorinski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Zorita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moises Fernandino in the 28th minute of play forced Great Bulgaria's goalkeeper Trendafil Margin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yanaki Peychinov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evtim Kalúpchiev got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricardo Zorita was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Yanaki Peychinov capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Yanaki Peychinov really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. In the 39th minute, Moises Fernandino made a precise shot to the right of Trendafil Margin. Great Bulgaria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. If Marko Dzhorinski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Great Bulgaria booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Curbelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Moises Fernandino made a kick off. Yanaki Peychinov hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Mateo Leguizamo managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Salvador's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateo Leguizamo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trendafil Margin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 57 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Marko Dzhorinski came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dilyan Radomirski was shown his second yellow card after 65 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Evtim Kalúpchiev took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Valentino Ferrant fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Salvador's protests and gave Valentino Ferrant a yellow card for diving instead. Great Bulgaria's Zlatko Kúrshev was substituted for Marko Dzhorinski. The supporters of Great Bulgaria booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentino Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Great Bulgaria had won after a very even match.
