Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Massa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Therkild Prendorf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Nelson Mendoza tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. João Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 40 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Mendoza came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigel Seremet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gervásio Vilhena hit a great ball. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 47th minute. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but UFC STEAUA's João Massa did a great save.

Tomas Illescas in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of João Massa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafet Faydalı in the 73rd minute of play. If Nelson Mendoza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Nelson Mendoza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. João Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mugur Basarabescu in the 85th minute of play. Xu Yue Yuan got a throw-in 87 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Gervásio Vilhena. 89 minutes into the match, Gigel Seremet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gigel Seremet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Nelson Mendoza took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. There was no doubt that UFC STEAUA were the better team. UFC STEAUA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
