After 7 minutes, Luca Espinar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Honduras and the Racing Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 8 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Luca Espinar. After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Ildefonso Erlantz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Ildefonso Erlantz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Moises Tafalla. The supporters of Honduras booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eleuterio Malvin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcial Marin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Per Braaten during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 34th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Per Braaten to maneuver through the defense. After 36 minutes of play, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Diego Laurentzi was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Eleuterio Malvin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Eleuterio Malvin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Diego Laurentzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Ildefonso Erlantz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Lautaro Navarro made a huge save. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ildefonso Erlantz was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Esteban Carvallo got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Ildefonso Erlantz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Ildefonso Erlantz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lautaro Navarro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcial Marin scored 2-1 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lautaro Navarro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Moises Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Laurentzi having to interfere. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga came free and shot a quick shot against goal 68 minutes in the game, fortunately Diego Laurentzi had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 71 minutes into the game, Marcial Marin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Lautaro Navarro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Racing Club booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anselmo Nafarroa made in the 79th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eleuterio Malvin. Wilfredo Emenon kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goalkeeper Diego Laurentzi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Espiga. The Racing Club support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
