In the 6th minute, Protegéerna's Cosme Demesio seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Cosme Demesio the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Protegéerna protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cosme Demesio had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Cosme Demesio hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Bolo Skjold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Milagros Fraga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Milagros Fraga took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bolo Skjold. Bolo Skjold dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petter Skarkman in the 19th minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Protegéerna booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luz Tejedor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Petter Skarkman in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 27th minute, Petter Skarkman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Bolo Skjold showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Xu Yi Chong made in the 46th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Fernando Arango immediately put the ball in play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Petter Skarkman made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bolo Skjold narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Protegéerna's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Moises Gayoso advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-2 in the 54th minute. Petter Skarkman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julian Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bolo Skjold having to interfere. Protegéerna's Jonny Ånger was substituted for Arman Lingren. Protegéerna made a substitution. Bo Låsberg replaced Fernando Arango. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 65th minute of play forced Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julian Murillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bolo Skjold having to make a save. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Bolo Skjold in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Peru's Bolo Skjold threw himself towards the right post 84 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eliseo Mina, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bolo Skjold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. The Protegéerna fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Peru were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
