In the 30th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valente FC's Dida Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Agustín Saelices ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dida Trigo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Valente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Madaleno Baltanas didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Valente FC's protests and gave Madaleno Baltanas a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes Valente FC got a freekick which was hit by Madaleno Baltanas. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Paolo Guerrero made the kick off in the second half. After 78 played minutes Valente FC got a freekick which was hit by Zhan Gevechanov. Dida Trigo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 82nd minute. A collision led to Valente FC getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Maurinho de Godoi hit a great ball. When Edmílson Zonta fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Valente FC's protests and gave Edmílson Zonta a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Valente FC's Edmílson Zonta got a free kick in the 88th minute. A hard shot by Daniel Zorita from long distance, 89 minutes into the match, got Dida Trigo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Dida Trigo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 91st minute. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
