After a defensive mix-up in Nantwich's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Hanot came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 10 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frazer Fordham. 12 minutes into the match, Nantwich's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Enrique Hanot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrique Hanot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Reynaldo Estebe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 42nd match minute, Nantwich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Örjan Berggren to maneuver through the defense. Enrique Hanot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 43rd minute of play. In the 64th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Hanot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Enrique Hanot in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Mexico booed when Nantwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Penha didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Florian Ziemba in the 95th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
