Benedito Trigo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Éder Madureira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Éder Madureira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benedito Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 32nd minute of the match. The supporters of Sagarana Clube booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After taking down the ball on Sagarana Clube's corner Serafim Barros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benedito Trigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 87th minute, Benê Hoffmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 96 minutes of play, Sagarana Clube's Bruno Salles made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
