Luis Andino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Marcelino Nuxila made a huge save. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in 1947 FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelino Nuxila came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to 1947 FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Oscar Godoi hit a great ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Goren Baños, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 47th minute, but Marcelino Nuxila got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving 1947 FC hanging dry this time. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ecuador.
