When Bebeto Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bebeto Sarmento couldn't finish the play. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Sarmento in the 32nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bebeto Sarmento in the 37th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Benito Laurin sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. In the 42nd minute, Bebeto Sarmento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-6.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bebeto Sarmento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes of play, ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Bebeto Sarmento made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto Sarmento in the 59th minute of play. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Benito Laurin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-8 in the 60 minute of play. Bebeto Sarmento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. In the 67th minute, Benito Laurin made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-9. After 72 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. In the 92nd minute, Bebeto Sarmento reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz.
