The ball went over the crossbar instead. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Mariano Kiradzhiyski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Enrique Mariano Kiradzhiyski made a precise shot to the right of Marco Day. USA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cassius Byrne made a kick off.
