In the 12th minute, Andy Hendrickx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddy Huijgens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Blue Beast's Antonio Cempeners got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Huijgens having to interfere. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Eddy Huijgens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Eddy Huijgens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 28th minute of play. Eddy Huijgens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. Alfons Wolfdoncx made in the 40th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ecuador's Felix Montenegro. After some careless play in the Blue Beast defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eddy Huijgens. The Blue Beast fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eddy Huijgens should have stopped the shot.

If Antonio Cempeners had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 55th minute of play forced Blue Beast's goalkeeper Eddy Huijgens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 64 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eddy Huijgens made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 75th minute. Eddy Huijgens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of the match. Eddy Huijgens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 82nd minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eddy Huijgens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Huijgens having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Felix Montenegro in the 95th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Blue Beast's Dany Bastin. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
