Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Raul Leal took the kick off in the first half of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caio Sampaio during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Caio Sampaio kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. After having played for 7 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abílio Passos got free with Julio Vera in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ivo Guterres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivo Guterres saved SC Freiburg 09 from getting behind. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when SC Freiburg 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Martínez didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of the match. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after SC Freiburg 09's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 47th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Vasco Brás fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ivo Guterres was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luis Andino showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 95 minute of play.
