Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bennvar Nickler's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. If Bennvar Nickler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute Bennvar Nickler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Nickler in the 20th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bennvar Nickler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bennvar Nickler got free with Julio Vera in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bennvar Nickler's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Team Pogba:s goal. Julio Vera had in the 42ndth minute some difficulties stopping Sander Roeles's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Camilo Gisbert got a throw-in 44 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Luis Andino. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bennvar Nickler was the one to do the kick off. After 50 played minutes Team Pogba got a freekick which was hit by Casey Gough. Bennvar Nickler struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Team Pogba. After a defensive mix-up in Team Pogba's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lech Urban came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alfred Orling lost his temper 55 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Team Pogba! Team Pogba:s Lech Urban showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. Lech Urban made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 57th minute. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Team Pogba's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Cristian Sancho was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Nickler in the 62nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute Bennvar Nickler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Lech Urban made a huge save. In the 76th minute, Daniel Zorita reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lech Urban. The goal made the score 0-1. Team Pogba made a substitution. Jonny Lindblom replaced Louie Mulford. 80 minutes into the game, Camilo Gisbert threw the ball into play from the sideline. Team Pogba's Doctor Sick quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bennvar Nickler in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Team Pogba's attentive Piers Giles managed to snatch the ball when Camilo Gisbert made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 93rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lech Urban could save by the left post. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Camilo Gisbert made in the 96th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Luis Andino immediately put the ball in play. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
