In the 5th minute Gernando Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Amadeu do Nascimento took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gernando Azevedo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 11th playminute. Ruy Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 15th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Andolín Dijk seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Andolín Dijk the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Los Andes FC - FSCMZ protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Andolín Dijk had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 17 minutes into the game, one of Los Andes FC - FSCMZ:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 19 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruy Montenegro. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Luís Paulo do Nascimento got a free kick in the 26th minute. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play forced Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Ruy Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ruy Montenegro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 35th minute of the match Los Andes FC - FSCMZ got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amadeu do Nascimento ran over to the corner to take the kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gernando Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Gernando Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Los Andes FC - FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gernando Azevedo couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Los Andes FC - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Gernando Azevedo hit a great ball. In the 69th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gernando Azevedo in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Arjen Robben was substituted for Hayrullah Özgun. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arjen Robben in the 90th minute of play. Ruy Montenegro made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Arjen Robben struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Andes FC - FSCMZ.
