Joel Gaona started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 7th minute of play forced ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's goalkeeper René Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of René Higuita. The ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that René Higuita should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute, Zhou Xiang Li reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dante Lacasa. The goal made the score 1-1. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 18th minute. Mexico's Luca Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but René Higuita in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Adalbert Holzner kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zhou Xiang Li got free with Dante Lacasa in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 24 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Thoralf Banke who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Pan Jing Qi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 27 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. René Higuita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. René Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but René Higuita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhou Xiang Li in the 41st minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Thoralf Banke came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcu Pașcanu kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Kornél Majoros hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zhou Xiang Li made a kick off. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thoralf Banke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th match minute, ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kornél Majoros to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 59th minute of play forced ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's goalkeeper René Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 63 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Marcu Pașcanu came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Florian Lehmann hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Luque during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Felix Luque hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. René Higuita came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75th minute of the match, Joel Gaona tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but René Higuita saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, Mexico's René Higuita threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberto Tafalla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 79th minute of the match. With 82 minutes on the clock, Kornél Majoros commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 82nd minute, Kornél Majoros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. René Higuita came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a free kick in the 94th minute.
