Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Julian Murillo started the match with the kick off. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eulalio Callejas in the 6th minute of the match. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. José Luis Chilavert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. 18 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Luis Chilavert. Ballet Azul's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Eulalio Callejas sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. In the 29th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but José Luis Chilavert in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. José Luis Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 33rd minute of play. When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ballet Azul's goalie prevented a goal. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Danilo Quiroga made a throw-in in the 37th minute of the game. In the 40th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Luis Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 minutes Ballet Azul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ballet Azul's José Luis Chilavert did a great save. After 47 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Emmanuel Reyes. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

A sloppy throw-in by Emmanuel Reyes in the 51st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Ballet Azul's Danilo Quiroga. Pepe Rojas hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 61st match minute, Ballet Azul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pepe Rojas to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waclaw Dombrowski in the 66th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Esequiel Dohrmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ballet Azul made a substitution. Odín Enríquez replaced Eulalio Callejas. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Esequiel Dohrmann made in the 83rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and René Puente immediately put the ball in play. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Esequiel Dohrmann in the 84 minute of the game. 85 minutes into the match, Ballet Azul's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Gallo came free, but José Luis Chilavert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Esequiel Dohrmann made in the 88th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pepe Rojas during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 89th minute, Pepe Rojas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ballet Azul's José Luis Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 90th minute of play. Antonio Tenorio hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Peru players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
