Alan Campos thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Jacobo Nores, a very annoying self made goal in the 35th minute which led to 1-1. In the 40th minute, James Wilson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Nores was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 44th minute, Alfredo Mazzocchi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Paraguay players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Roberto baggi were winning 1-2.

In the 89th minute, James Wilson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
