The audience thought a goal was coming when Bieito Villaurreta got free with Lautaro Navarro in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valentín Carvallo hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With his leg Lautaro Navarro managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Criciúma Esporte Clube's Bieito Villaurreta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice moves Bieito Villaurreta could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Lautaro Navarro however easily saved by the left post. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Laurentzi's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bieito Villaurreta's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bieito Villaurreta helped the player get up and apologised. After 45 minutes, Valentín Carvallo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Honduras and the Criciúma Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. When Sebastian Villa came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastian Villa couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes had been played when some careless play by Honduras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Paulo Laurentzi was slow to take the kick. During this time Criciúma Esporte Clube's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of Honduras booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaztea Regalado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Laurentzi. After having played for 70 minutes, Sebastian Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edmundo Espiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Criciúma Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Tauro Camero hit a great ball. After 76 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Valadares. Evelio Antoniano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 77th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 90th minute of the game. One of Honduras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Criciúma Esporte Clube:s goal. In the 91st minute there was a penalty for Criciúma Esporte Clube. Paulo Laurentzi stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lautaro Navarro. 2-0. When Paulo Laurentzi came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Criciúma Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Laurentzi couldn't finish the play. When Valentín Carvallo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 99 minutes had been played. The Criciúma Esporte Clube support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
