The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 15th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Baxters Boys's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play forced Baxters Boys's goalkeeper Börje Albohm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Baxters Boys's Aloísio Lendaa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Börje Albohm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Börje Albohm made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Baxters Boys's Uzay Gencalp got a free kick in the 89th minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Uzay Gencalp's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game.
