GALACTICOS's Noel Hägele got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elco Vid got free with Francisco Infante in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Lima Team getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Raimundo Cerqueira hit a great ball. Francisco Infante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elco Vid in the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the game, Herberto Caiado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Lima Team's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Noel Hägele scored to the left of an out of position Francisco Infante, making the score, 1-1. Elco Vid took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Infante. Lima Team's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 48 minutes into the game, Noel Hägele cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Francisco Infante was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elco Vid in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Infante saved Lima Team from getting behind. Francisco Infante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noel Hägele, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rey Acitores came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Lima Team's Anselmo Domingos. But to his dismay, Anselmo Domingos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Palos in the 66th minute of play forced Lima Team's goalkeeper Francisco Infante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lima Team's Francisco Infante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noel Hägele in the 68th minute of play. The GALACTICOS fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when GALACTICOS's Noel Hägele looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
