In the 41st minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev. Спартак's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After 45 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Vitaliy Eliseev came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 57 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Albert Schegodskiy managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 74th minute, Armin Mustakivi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armin Mustakivi struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Спартак. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Albert Schegodskiy fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Спартак's protests and gave Albert Schegodskiy a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Спартак's Albert Schegodskiy got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksandr Sibirev having to interfere.
