With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Urrutia Chavarria tried to sneak it across the goal line. Siete de Octubre's Fausto Sotres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute. Urrutia Chavarria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. When Siete de Octubre's Urrutia Chavarria in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Urrutia Chavarria came free with the goalkeeper in the 21st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Aguirre Vialpando received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Aguirre Vialpando slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 26th minute. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Fausto Sotres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Cruz Vagrande tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 39th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Mendoza Truebano. Fausto Sotres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Urrutia Chavarria got free with Julio Vera in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Siete de Octubre's Fausto Sotres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Siete de Octubre from getting a goal against them. If Urrutia Chavarria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 64th minute. Penalty! Julio Vera had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Aguirre Vialpando's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Urrutia Chavarria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Urrutia Chavarria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fausto Sotres made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Siete de Octubre were furious when Mendoza Truebano was red carded, 92 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 91st minute, one of Siete de Octubre:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Siete de Octubre. Fausto Sotres came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 96th minute of play forced Siete de Octubre's goalkeeper Fausto Sotres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute Vellito Loaisa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 100th match minute, Siete de Octubre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aquilino Dubardo to maneuver through the defense. 101 minutes into the match, Siete de Octubre's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Fausto Sotres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
