The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The throw-in from Leonardo Leoz in the 8th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s Vasco Távora. Diamantino Vilela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s Vasco Távora managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Leonardo Leoz in the 11 minute of the game. In the 14th minute of the match QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C. got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bernardo Simões ran over to the corner to take the kick. Bernardo Simões made a great header on QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s corner, it was just that Mexico's Dante Lacasa managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Leonardo Leoz got a free kick in the 19th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miroslav Klose in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. In the 31st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Leoz to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C. getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Diamantino Vilela hit a great ball. In the 35th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristopher Johnson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kristopher Johnson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 43rd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miroslav Klose was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C. getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Fabiano Medeiros hit a great ball. Kristopher Johnson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 60th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 69 minutes into the match, QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Kristopher Johnson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kristopher Johnson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Miroslav Klose's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. 85 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bernardo Simões was slow to take the kick. During this time QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. 88 minutes into the match, QUINTA DAS LUZES F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Kristopher Johnson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kristopher Johnson came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 92nd minute, Macos Graciani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
